Kim Ann Cooper was born in Austin, Texas on January 14, 1970. Ms. Cooper attended the University of Texas at Austin and received a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1991. She subsequently attended the University of Houston Law Center from which she received her law degree in 1994. While attending the Law Center, Ms. Cooper received two American Jurisprudence Awards. Upon graduation and her admission to the State Bar of Texas in 1994, Ms. Cooper became an associate attorney with the law firm of Phillips & Akers, P.C. in Houston, Texas. Ms. Cooper left Phillips & Akers to become one of the founding partners of McKinney & Cooper, L.L.P.
Ms. Coopers practice focuses on general civil litigation and appellate practice with an emphasis on personal injury, products liability and insurance coverage disputes. Other types of law handled by McKinney & Cooper are discussed below. Ms. Cooper has second chaired several jury trials with Mr. McKinney. She has written more than twenty appellate briefs since being admitted to the Texas Bar. Ms. Cooper is currently a member of the Houston Bar Association, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel and the Houston Young Lawyers Association.
